Preparation and Coating of steel support structure for timber bridge over the Wimera River. This project, won at tender, had significant site related issues and Authorities involvement i.e. environmentally sensitive area, work over a water course, traffic management and surrounding landowners all required to be addressed. Preparation was the key which included sandblasting, power tool, hand and solvent cleaning and rust removal all to VicRoads Standards. The works were subject to numerous Authority inspections and approvals throughout the process. Rust treatment followed by 3 coats of highly durable paint as per specifications. An approved Environmental Management Plan was required to in place and strictly adhered to during the works, de-mobilisation and clean up. This is a well-travelled rural road, these roads and the bridges such as Joel Joel, are major Local Government maintenance issues and high quality workmanship with great attention to detail are what is required for long term protection and reduced maintenance costs to the ratepayers.
